Orchestral chimes that have sat unusable for years are usually more fixable than they look. Restringing sets and rebuilding chime dampers is routine work for us: we do it on site, along with the frame and hardware. A cracked tube or a tube that needs retuning is specialist work that we arrange and manage for you, so the set comes back complete and in tune.

A cracked or out-of-tune tube has to go to a bench specialist. We assess it, arrange the repair, manage the shipping, and reinstall it. You make one call.
What we repair on a set of chimes

Chimes unusable for years, ringing again in one trip
First Flight Middle School had a set of chimes that had sat unusable for years, and a timpano missing parts nobody could source. We tracked down the parts, overhauled the timpani, and reassembled the chimes, all in one trip. “The kids were so excited to have working equipment.”
A full restring on site
A school set came to us with the cable failing and tubes hanging uneven. We stripped the old cable, fitted fresh PVC-coated cable on every tube, and levelled the set in its frame. Mid-job and finished, below.

A common one: a new director finds a set of chimes in a closet, cable broken, damper stuck. A restring, a damper rebuild, and a frame once-over, and it is back in the percussion inventory where it belongs.

A full restring of a set of chimes is $150. Damper box and other in-house repair is billed hourly at $120. Cracked tube repair is $160 per tube and is managed through us. You get one clear price before we start.
Usually yes. Most sets that have been written off just need a restring and a damper rebuild, and the frame and hardware sorted. That is bread-and-butter work for us, done in-house. We will tell you honestly if a tube is cracked or if a set is genuinely done.
