Ready for the concert, not just fixed

A new or repaired drum still has to be in tune with the section and hold that tuning through the performance. That is the job, and we plan it around your performance date.

★★★★★
“Rich was quick to respond, incredibly informative, and was able to schedule an appointment to tune and clean some of our equipment with short notice for our upcoming All-District Band clinic.”

Cameron Garris

Before the clinic

★★★★★
“Not only will your percussion be in tune when he is finished but it will be working properly.”

Michael Capps

In tune and working

★★★★★
“He makes sure the equipment is in top working condition and is very reasonable on pricing for a school band budget.”

The whole section, one visit

The Concert Tuning Package brings the bass drum, snare, toms, and timpani up together in one planned visit, so nothing is left for the week of the show.

Concert bass, snare, toms, and everything around them

One drum or the full section, the same team handles it. Open a section below for the detail.

Jobs we've done

A few we're proud of

A row of concert snares came in with the batter heads yellowed, cracked, and long past their lifespan. Fresh heads on every drum, seated and cleared, and the set tuned so it speaks together. Before and after below.

A row of concert snare drums before service, the front head yellowed and cracked
Before: heads yellowed and cracked, the new set laid out.
The same row of concert snare drums after service, fresh white heads on every drum
After: fresh heads across the section, seated and tuned.

A Pearl symphonic snare came in with a triple throw-off that was past saving and a frayed snare cable hanging loose. We fitted a new throw-off and fresh cables, then set the tension so the snares speak evenly across the head. Below, too.

Throw-off, before: past saving, a frayed cable hanging.

Throw-off, after: a new mechanism, fresh cables tensioned.

Byron Nelson High School runs a large program with a constant run of auditions and concerts and no time to maintain the inventory. John Bingaman keeps calling us back to keep the concert section performance-ready, and he has said it helps keep his job sustainable.

One visit that covers the concert bass drum, the concert snare, up to six concert toms, and up to five timpani: everything tuned, hardware checked, and rattles tracked down. It is $695, and it is the usual choice before a concert or a festival.

Yes, and it is most of what we do. We plan the visit around your performance date, bring whatever the section needs on the truck, and finish in one visit so nothing is left half done the week of the show.

Yes. We rebuild the throw-off mechanism, or replace it if it is past saving, and fit new snare cables or wires. Then we set the tension so the snares respond evenly across the head.

Yes. Everything on this page is done on site at your school, hall, or rehearsal room. Timpani that need pedal or gauge work are handled the same visit, and are covered in more detail on the timpani repair page.

A technician lives in Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, Raleigh, Greensboro, and Charlotte. Outside those metros we still travel for the right job. Tell us where you are and we will let you know.
